Deliberations head to 3rd day in Brown Deer police shooting

MILWAUKEE  — Jurors were sent home Tuesday, Feb. 27 after the second day of deliberations in the trial of a suburban Milwaukee police officer charged with shooting a man in the back as she attempted to arrest him.

The jury in Milwaukee County will return Wednesday to try and decide whether Brown Deer Officer Devon Kraemer is guilty of aggravated battery with intent to cause great bodily harm, guilty of a lesser charge or not guilty.

Manuel Burnley Jr. was unarmed when Kraemer shot him in March 2016 after a disturbance on a county bus. Kraemer says she fired her gun because she and another officer were struggling to restrain Burnley when he moved his hand near his waistband. Burnley survived his gunshot wound.

Random Lake man arrested for OWI, drug paraphernalia found in car

WASHINGTON COUNTY — A 22-year-old man from Random Lake was arrested Wednesday morning, Jan. 31 for 1st offense OWI. During the traffic stop, drug paraphernalia was found in the vehicle. According to authorities, around 1:20 a.m. a deputy on routine patrol stopped a vehicle for traveling 88 mph on STH 144 near Jay Road in the Town of Farmington. The driver, identified as a 22-year-old Random Lake man, showed numerous signs of intoxication and failed field sobriety testing. He was arrested for 1st offense OWI. After the arrest, and at the driver’s request, the deputy placed a wallet back inside the driver’s vehicle. While doing so, the deputy smelled the odor of marijuana —  a glass pipe was subsequently located in the vehicle. The driver was cited for OWI, speeding and possession of drug paraphernalia. The breathalyzer result was .19.
