CREDIT: Jason Kempin/Getty Images for Adult Swim With everything being rebooted and remade these days, it’s natural that talk would turn to the classic “Home Alone.” Its star, Macaulay Culkin, recently did  a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) session  to promote his podcast titled “Bunny Ears” and site  BunnyEars.com. Participants couldn’t resist asking him questions about the 1990 film that made him a child star. Asked if he would consider participating in a “Home Alone” remake, Culkin, 37, offered an answer we assume was tongue-in-cheek. “Only if it was set in the woods, à la ‘Rambo,’ ” Culkin said. A buff and grown Kevin McCallister racing through the woods with weapons? Surely he was joking. Macaulay Culkin’s hunky makeover has the internet swooning Culkin appeared to be a b

He shared a photo of him with Salling and their former castmate Cory Monteith, who died in 2013 from a mixture of heroin and alcohol. “Glee” producer Tim Davis tweeted, “Let me be clear. Insurance claims from California wildfires near $12 billion

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Insurance claims from last year’s deadly California wildfires have reached $11.8 billion, making it the most expensive series of wildfires in state history, an official said Wednesday. The staggering number exceeds the total insurance claims from the top 10 previously most costly wildfires in California. Until last year, California’s most expensive single fire was the 1991 Oakland Hills fire that prompted $2.7 billion in claims in today’s dollars, according to data from the Insurance Information Institute. If treated as one disaster, the combined fires in October and December 2017 “represent one of the most damaging natural catastrophes in California history,” Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones said at a news conference in Los Angeles. For comparison, insured losses from the 1994 Northridge earthquake, the costliest quake to strike the United States, were nearly $26 billion in 2017 dollars, according to data from the insurance institute. Nearly $1.8 billion of

Video game maker using courts to stop online game cheaters

RALEIGH, N.C. — The maker of a video game that pits players worldwide in a fight for survival on virtual terrain has used U.S. courts to successfully chasten cheaters from Ukraine to Minnesota. North Carolina-based Epic Games has in the past two months squeezed promises from men in Minnesota, Sweden and Russia to stop cheating and spoiling revenues from its popular “Fortnite” online multiplayer game. The company also closed its case against a Louisiana boy with a confidential settlement. Only the Minnesotan faces a $5,000 penalty if he resumes cheating. Epic Games spokesman Nick Chester would not say Wednesday whether that’s because the company can’t enforce financial penalties against foreign copyright violators. Chester would not say how much Epic Games estimates it has lost because of this cheating. The company has sued three Americans and seven foreign gamers for hacks that undercut the game the company’s lawyers say is played by more than 30 million people worldwide. The compan

Podcast: Trump’s First SOTU, Jimmy Kimmel, And Paid Family Leave

On this episode of The Federalist Radio Hour, Publisher Ben Domenech and Senior Writer Mary Katharine Ham recap the President’s State of the Union address and all the included virtue signaling. They also discuss Jimmy Kimmel’s interview with Stormy Daniels following the address and Trump’s relationship with the media. “I think a lot of it is very silly I think now we’ve reached the point that the invited guests has gotten so virtue-signally,” Ham said. “It is a moment where you do get to hear a little bit of policy, which in these days in cable news and politics doesn’t happen very often!” Later in the hour, Ben gives his proposal for a smarter way to provide Americans with paid family leave. In less than 3 months, a major international city will likely run out of water

In Cape Town, South Africa, they’re calling it “Day Zero” — the day when the taps run dry. City officials had recently said that day would come on April 22. They have since  moved up the date  to April 12. Cape Town is South Africa’s second-largest city and a top international tourist draw. Now, residents play a new and delicate game of water math each day. They’re recycling bath water to help flush toilets. They’re being told to limit showers to 90 seconds. And hand sanitizer, once somewhat of an afterthought, is now a big seller. “Unwashed hair is now a sign of social responsibility,” resident Darryn Ten told CNN. The genesis of the crisis So how did this happen? How does a major city in the developed world just run dry? It’s been a slow-motion crisis, exacerbated by three factors: The  worst drought in more than a century , which has pushed Cape Town’s water scarcity into a potentially deadly horizon The metro area’s population, which is   4  million and growing  quickly.

Meanwhile, 222 schools have registered to participate in the statewide program, including 48 new schools and 21 schools that previously participated in either the Milwaukee or Racine programs. Qualifying students who attend schools in the three programs can collect state subsidies to defray tuition expenses.

NEENAH — Kimberly-Clark’s plan to make deep cuts in its workforce involves hundreds of employees in Wisconsin. The consumer products giant says it plans to close the Neenah Nonwovens facility within the next 18 months, as well as the Cold Spring Facility in nearby Fox Crossing. The closures involve 600 employees.  WLUK-TV  reports the company says a final decision on the Cold Spring facility will come after it consults with the plant’s union. Kimberly-Clark recently announced plans to reduce its workforce by 12 percent to 13 percent, or 5,000 to 5,500 jobs, and close or sell about 10 manufacturing facilities. The personal products maker was founded in Neenah in 1872 and moved its corporate headquarters to Irving, Texas in 1985. It currently employs about 3,200 people in the Fox Valley.

We Fixed Hillary Clinton’s Statement On Not Firing Her Staffer Accused Of Sexual Harassment

Moments before President Trump’s first State of the Union address Tuesday, Hillary Clinton dropped a lengthy statement on her decision not to fire a high-level campaign staffer accused of sexual harassment. We edited  the 1,500-word Facebook post to make it more clear, accurate, and concise. The most important work of my life has been to support and empower women to obtain as much political power as I can, regardless of what it cost me and other women around me . I’ve tried to do so here at home, around the world, and in the organizations I’ve run. I started in my twenties, and four decades later I’m nowhere near being done making excuses . In fact I’m proud that it’s the work I’m most associated with , and it remains what I’m most dedicated to. of myself . So I very much understand the question I’m being asked as to why I let an employee on my 2008 campaign keep his job despite his inappropriate workplace behavior my knowledge that he inappropriately touched a woman who worked

Vox: That Drooling Kennedy Ginger Is Just Like Abraham Lincoln

Gambar
Rep. Joe Kennedy’s response to Donald Trump’s first State of the Union address on Tuesday night was a flaming pile of garbage. Full stop. The Democratic Party, which ran a candidate from a political dynasty last time and lost, probably should have looked beyond the Kennedy family to deliver a response to Trump. The content of his speech was light on ideas and his delivery proved the congressman is still wet behind the ears — and around his mouth. Not sure if trotting out the Drooling Ginger Princeling of Camelot is the best way to dethrone Trump, but it's a bold strategy — David Burge (@iowahawkblog) January 31, 2018 But you wouldn’t know it if you read some of these takes from the usual suspects.  New York magazine’s Margaret Hartman called it “good .” My favorite is this one from none other than  Vox’s Matthew Yglesias , who actually compared Kennedy to Abraham Lincoln. Yes, really. Then he slipped into the identity issues, calling out specific reasons Trump might slot

Rare ‘super blue blood moon’ dazzles sky gazers

Sky gazers across the world were treated Wednesday to a rare celestial convergence dubbed a “super blue blood moon.” The cosmic event — a combination of lunar eclipse, blood moon and super moon — was visible in the western hemisphere for the first time in 152 years. People in Australia, Asia and parts of Russia were treated to the lunar triple whammy during moonrise on January 31, while the show kicked off in North America from 5:51 a.m. ET. Sadly, the super blue blood moon was not visible in western Europe or most of Africa and South America, but CNN compiled the following photos photos and videos from people who were able to witness the eclipse. Latest photos Shirley Tomioka took a photo of the lunar convergence from her terrace in Tokyo, Japan. Joe Stuart took this incredible 15 minute time-lapse from his house in Melbourne in Australia. He told CNN: “It was amazing, it looked like it was popping out of the sky!” Richard Tuffin told CNN he witnessed the spectacle with his two

Trump’s Biggest Point Last Night Was The Need To Upend The Deep State

King George III’s bureaucrats, whom Thomas Jefferson decried in the Declaration of Independence as “swarms of officers” who “harass our people and eat out their substance,” would have envied the job protection of federal employees today. In Tuesday’s State of the Union address, President Donald Trump called for something very controversial among the chattering classes of Washington DC: to treat government employees as though they work for us rather than the other way ‘round. The president said , “I call on Congress to empower every cabinet secretary with the authority to reward good workings and to remove federal employees who undermine the public trust or fail the American people.” Following through on this simple promise to make a government job more like the ones the rest of us have will require the president and Congress to undo more than a century of misguided, anti-democratic, and unconstitutional laws governing the civil service. Joe Kennedy’s SOTU Response Was A Nixon Debate Moment

Democrats chose young Rep. Joe Kennedy III to give their official response to President Trump’s first official State of the Union address Tuesday. Speaking from a vocational school in Fall River, Mass. , the ginger-haired scion of Camelot spoke of opportunity, and unity, and transgender Americans, and tearing down a border wall. He was the conscience of the Resistance, invoking all the hashtags and buzzwords of these heady times, no matter how ironic coming from this particular speaker’s mouth — #MeToo, #BlackLivesMatter, “privilege.” It is a pretty thankless job. I am not at all prone to empathize with the Kennedys, but I don’t envy anyone this speaking slot. It is the worst of all public perception games. A State of the Union speaker has to follow an historic address to a joint session of Congress dripping in more than 100 years of tradition, pomp and circumstance. He’s a rhetorical drizzle after a thunderclap. The expectations placed upon this speaker are inexplicably high given a

Dangers of shaming your kids: A punishment strategy that could leave a lasting impact

MILWAUKEE -- Sometimes we see it on social media -- other times just out in public. Parents shaming their kids for bad behavior. But is that really the best punishment route? Child development expert Jessica Lahner with Carroll University joins Real Milwaukee with alternatives to shaming. 1.
