PELHAM, N.Y. — The ALS Association says a man credited as one of the co-founders of the viral “Ice Bucket Challenge” that swept social media in 2014 has died after a yearslong battle with the condition known as Lou Gerhig’s disease. Anthony Senerchia was 46. The Anthony Senerchia Jr. ALS Charitable Foundation  website  says the Pelham, New York, native died early Saturday. MILWAUKEE — A woman accused in the death of her three-year-old child has been sentenced to prison. 34-year-old Margarita Balderas in September pleaded guilty to one count of neglecting a child, consequence is death, as party to a crime. On Thursday, November 30th, Balderas was sentenced to serve 10 years in prison, and four years extended supervision. 36-year-old Darrell Woodson is also charged in this case. He pleaded guilty to one count of neglecting a child, consequence is death, as party to a crime in October. He’ll be sentenced on December 15th. According to the criminal complaint, emergency responders were dispatched to a home near 71st and Glendale on the city’s northwest side on August 13th, 2016. When they arrived on the scene, they found three-year-old London Woodson unresponsive and administered CPR on her. The child was transported to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. Applebee’s is going to be L.I.T. in December. The chain announced Thursday, it will offer Long Island Iced Teas – or Dollar L.I.T.s – for just $1 all December. The holiday cocktail is made with a mix of vodka, rum, gin, tequila, triple sec and sweet and sour mix with a splash of cola. Apple is once again hinting that the world could one day see a foldable iPhone. The U.S. Patent & Trademark Office recently  published  an Apple patent application for “an electronic device [that] may have a flexible portion that allows [it] to be folded.” The patent was filed in September 2016, shortly before the company was  granted  a patent for a similar foldable product. The latest patent describes flexible displays with touch sensors and portions that bend like “being opened and closed like a book.” Apple has previously been awarded patents for flexible screens and a foldable phone with “carbon nanotubes” that  bend  to form the center hinge. Other Apple patents include a 360-degree screen that wraps entirely around a phone and smart glasses to rival Google’s failed Glass product. MADISON — The Republican tax bill will add  $1 trillion to the deficit over the next decade, according to a nonpartisan analysis that came Thursday, November 30th — just hours before the Senate was scheduled to vote. House Speaker Paul Ryan said he disagrees with the estimate. House Speaker Paul Ryan “I really believe the economic growth that will come from this law will dramatically help reduce any deficit effects that come from it,” said Speaker Ryan. Senators are considering a provision to trigger automatic tax increases if the economy doesn’t grow as needed to offset the cost of the bill’s tax cuts. DETROIT — Federal prosecutors on Thursday asked for a 60-year prison sentence for a Michigan sports doctor who was caught with child pornography while under investigation for sexually assaulting female gymnasts. Larry Nassar, 54, who worked at Michigan State University and USA Gymnastics, will be sentenced for child porn crimes on Dec. 7. In the last week, he has pleaded guilty to molesting teens and younger girls with his hands in two other cases in state court. Nassar “has led a double life,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Sean Lewis said in a court filing. “On the surface, he was a respected, world-renowned expert for elite athletes. He was a medical doctor, a husband and a father. But underneath this veneer lurked a predator.” Lewis said Nassar “poses an immense risk to the community.” In July, he pleaded guilty to three charges in federal court in western Michigan, each carrying up to 20 years in prison.
